My Temple Pics

Hey everyone,

I’ve been losing my hair for a while now, and I’m becoming much more aware of it at my temples, it isn’t a huge amount, but it is a loss, an empty space that was not empty at one time. I have drawn a line in paint in red to show where hair should be.

I am considering a hair transplant, Dr feller is a name that has appeared numerous times. I have seen his work, for months now checking the forum re-looking the same photos, amazing work. Well when I say considering, I am going to have a transplant if I am a good candidate, but was hoping for some ‘custom’ advice after seeing my head from some of you guys who have experienced this. I have read the very good topic by Spex and it sounds more painful than I thought, I’m a little scared when I think about it, but I know it’s barely any price to pay for the result it could achieve.

I am also losing my hair at the crown but proscar seems to have very much slowed that down if not halted it. I hope that is the case and am now looking to fill in these gaps so I can be confident when the wind blows smile.gif

Sorry I have gone off in all directions with this post. Basically I am asking what do you guys think, I am thinking from what I have read FUE is the way to go. How many grafts does it look like I would need? Anything else?

If you are going to go for a HT then i think FUE is a good option for you. I have been looking into HT 's for a while and plan to see Feller in July hopefully. He is the guy to see especially for FUE and your requirements seem small ie 1000 grafts. I think your hairline is far too aggressive though to be completely honest. Maybe soften it a little and you are there with 1000 FUE.

Look at Hairrots hairline design which is awesome

and also that topic about the UK repair guy Feller recently did.

I would post this in the HT section where there is more people to give their opinion on your situation.

Feller and FUE are the way to go. Thats what i am doing and can’t wait! smile.gif

Thanks smile.gif

I have posted it there too, maybe this one can be merged or removed.

I think I have drawn my hairline a little aggressively in hindsight! Good luck for July biggrin.gif

hey joshb,
Snap on the name smile.gif

I really think you should hold off on a hair transplant. Your recession is absolutely minimal and you have hair that almost everybody here would love.

Are u on the meds?

Isn’t this just a mature hairline? I’ve read many posts on the net about this. Looks very minimal recession to me.

AAH

I dont think you need a HT as your hairline looks pretty good and if you are noticeing thinning/receeding ever so slightly i would suggest meds first.

The 'M' shaped hairline happens to virtually all men - it doesn't necessarily mean baldness. If the hair isn't thinning at the crown, you don't need a transplant, and I doubt any surgeon would do one.

Hi Joe
There are lots of doctors who will do a ht on this hairline, some good some bad.
This is why research is so important and every other possibility is explored first.

Joe, your hairloss is identical to mine, unfortunately there are HT surgeons who will get you in the chair at this stage and you will certainly end up looking freakish, firstly it looks to me like you are diffuse thinning, the transplanted hair will not match. Secondly, im sorry to say you will probably lose more hair. The last thing anyone needs is a HT that looks like a HT, its hell on Earth.

I take 1/5 of Proscar everyday for the crown and it worked really well, I’ve been on it 2 years now and the crown is what I’d call normal and I haven’t had any side effects luckily, I hope it continues smile.gif

I posted these photos way back in 2008, February and I don’t think I’ve lost much hair at the temples since I can’t tell which I guess is good, I will have to get some more photos up so someone else other than me can judge.

I’d love it to be a mature hairline, haven’t heard about this before but just started to read about it.

Slaps, I will look into diffuse thinning, I’m not sure exactly what this is. And I agree, I’d rather probably be a little receding than stand out with a bad HT sad.gif

Thanks for the input everyone who posted, when I logged in and checked the post date of this topic I was really surprised it was so long ago!

Great to hear you have not lost anymore hair smile.gif . Keep to your reg and keep us informed . Diffuse thinning means thinning throughout basically.

All the best mate cool.gif

Ah thanks Spex.

I am still actually receding a little on my temples I think, still haven’t got any pictures yet, but I can see it is slowly.

An update… things seem to have slowed on my temples, my right temple seems almost the same while the left one (unless it’s the slight angle) seems to have receded. Any ideas on why one side has gone back while the other seems not to have as much?

Crown still going strong biggrin.gif

I was thinking about minoxidil foam for my temples, but I hear it can only have a 5 year life, then you become too used to it and it won’t have any effect. So I think if my temples did worsen I’d go with a transplant for a more (hopefully) permanent fix.

(I have just wondered looking at these comparison photos; are those short hairs across my hair line back in 2008 possibly Proscar regrowing hair? I know it isn’t meant to help the front/temples but I can’t understand why I’d have those short hairs. I started taking Proscar (1mg) in October 2007, and the photo is February 2008… is that a possibility? I don’t have any short hairs in the recent photo… and I’ve had the same longish length hair so it would never been cut that short.)

Here’s a key for my scribbles on my upload.

The blue arrow points to a small scar on my right temple, I think using that is good marker for my loss, the line going across also compares roughly my hairline across my forehead

The green circle on the right - my left temple - seems to show a lot of uneven hairloss on that side compared to 2008

Ignore the red line you guys already told me that was a crazy idea of what my hair line should be.

The purple W shows the same sort of weird pattern to the front of my hair.

PS: Can’t believe it was October 2007 when I first joined. If I hadn’t I probably would have a seriously shiny crown right now. Got a lot of help reading and posting on this forum! Thanks biggrin.gif

Any updates?

I don’t have any pics right now. Maybe if I get a chance I can post some in a few days.

I surfed back onto the forum randomly today to check my original pics to see if there’s been any recession at my temples. Although I would say my hairline is slightly receded at my temples - compared to my school photos at 18 years - I really can’t say it’s further back than when I posted in 2011 - 2 years ago. My temples almost match the hairline from 2007 - 6 years ago.

I don’t think twice about my crown now, haven’t done for years. After the initial thinning I had in 2007ish (which was in the early stages on my crown but happening quickly) and visible hair loss on my floor, bed, and shower I took 1/5 proscar and I had a mild shedding nothing noticeable and after about 3-4 months everything was thick, regrown and ‘normal’.

I now take Finpecia. So not more cutting. I much prefer it in regards to the process and haven’t seen any difference in results or sides. No sides all round, very lucky there.

I realise some people may see I have thickish hair and a fair bit left and thinking ‘what is his problem then?’ my story is just different and I am lucky to have caught it early and so far I have been responding well to the meds. It is thanks to this forum and other people on the internet and the advice given out.

I am considering just in passing the idea of having my temples just slightly filled with FUE if I am a candidate. Just for myself. To have it gone from my mind entirely.
